Excellence is not for someone else to notice

A man once visited a temple under construction where he saw a sculptor making an idol of God. Suddenly he noticed a similar idol lying nearby. Surprised, he asked the sculptor, "Do you need two statues of the same idol?" "No," said the sculptor without looking up, "We need only one, but the first one got damaged at the last stage." The gentleman examined the idol and found no apparent damage. "Where is the damage?" he asked. "There is a scratch on the nose of the idol." said the sculptor, still busy with his work. "Where are you going to install the idol?" The sculptor replied that it would be installed on a pillar twenty feet high. "If the idol is that far, who is going to know that there is a scratch on the nose?" the gentleman asked.

The sculptor stopped his work, looked up at the gentleman, smiled and said, "I will know it."

The desire to excel is exclusive of the fact whether someone else appreciates it or not. "Excellence" is a drive from inside, not outside.

Excellence is not for someone else to notice but for your own satisfaction and excellence..

Get up every morning to compete with only one person i.e yourself.

99% of our worries remain just worries!!!

I was in tenth standard then. It was a day before our dashera vacation would begin. All the students in hostel had left for their homes and many day scholars were absent too.. I never bunked school. When i reached school i was too surprised to see just two other friends in our class. Just three students was too boring.. We were asked to sit with Class IX and were given some maths problems to be solved.

We solved the problems (Same problems were given to both classes as SLC syllabus covered both IX and X standard).. and it was boring again.. somehow we managed to pass our the first four classes doing literally nothing... Then we three decided to bunk after the lunch break...I used to go home for my lunch.. It would have been easy for me not to come back but i had my bag with me.. There were two exit routes which i could opt.. It was very important that I make it as quickly as possible otherwise anyteacher could see me... The bell rang and i went off... As fast as i could and heart was beating real fast...I slept off after having lunch...

After I got up, i sat at the shop. The school got over soon and a friend of mine , Chyandru (IX) was returning.. I asked him whether any teacher enquired... He told me that VP, Ajit sir, had taken down the name of students who did not turn up after the class and they would be punished when the school reopens.

Both dashera and diwali were rocking.. Now the school was set to reopen.. It was the first day.. I was very scared... I was never called in the assembly or to the principal's office for doing anything wrong... I was really scared... The bell rang and we assembled... Ajit sir went to the dias with a piece of paper in his hand... I was terrified... That chit must contain our names is what i thought... National anthem and prayer.... I was too scared...

But...........It had some other announcement.... I thanked god and was relaxed.....

Moral : 99% of our worries remain as worries!!!!!
